My New Theme Tune!

Lady GaGa is certainly pulling out all the stops to win back my love. If last week’s offering, the anthemic Pat Benatar-y gem The Edge of Glory wasn’t enough,  this week’s release is all about my favourite subject, Hair.

Musically it’s kinda in the same vein as Edge including that sexy sax and lyrics like “I don't wanna change, and I don't wanna be ashamed. I'm the spirit of my Hair, it's all the glory that I bare. I am my hair.”

It’s like it’s been written just for me. So cheers for the theme tune Lady! I’m officially back in love with you.

Hairspiration Part Deux

Whilst Caleb Followill may have been my Hairspiration for my hair style, I have another Hairspiration that is more colour specific and somewhat subconscious. I recently indulged in a Sex and The City marathon, all 6 seasons and 2 movies from the beginning. Not in one sitting, I might add. I’d moved to new place without a TV aerial in my room so my viewing options were limited to DVD box-sets or static.

Watching Sex and The City from the beginning wasn’t something I’d done since my university days, which may explain why I only got a ‘Desmond’ (2:2). Who cares, it was totally worth it and I felt it better prepared me for life than knowing the meaning of the word hegemony. God, the fashion in 1998 was appalling, and at the rate things are moving it should be back in fashion late next year, if so let’s hope the Mayan’s got it right about the whole apocalypse thing. Anyway, something dawned on me; I’ve had every one of Carrie Bradshaw’s hair colours.

Jen Pez I'm into You

I’m obsessed with the new Jennifer Lopez video I’m into You. I can’t tell you how it goes because at this point I feel the music is surplus to requirements but the video is classic Jen Pez. In fact it’s probably best played on mute with any of the below carefully selected tracks playing in the background. But oh lord, the hair, the fashion, the beauty the glamour and most importantly the completely unrelated dance break all just make me die. It’s Jennifer Lopez at her writhing around on a beach best and it makes me want to wrap my hair in a turban and catch a plane to Mexico. Muy caliente!

Option 1: The Cardigans - Iron Man

Option 2: Nellie McKay - Politan

Option 3. Y Kant Tori Read - Pirates

Same Director?

I'm heavy into Hair Rock at the moment, and it's my belief that there is a Tori Amos song for every occasion. On this occasion that song would be The Big Picture. Fitting, as it's my last day working at Big Pictures.  I couldn't help but notice that a certain Phoebe Buffay may have used the same director/treatment for her Smelly Cat video. See for yourself.

On a side note, how sick is Tori's hair in this video? That's so my next look. You know what they say 'The higher the hair, the closer to God.'

Hairspiration

I’m more than a little bit in love with Nina Persson. My 15 year long dream of meeting her was realised after an A Camp gig in the summer of 2009. Unfortunately the encounter was immortalised by the above awful photo and there is one person and one person only to blame, Caleb Followill. You see, Caleb was my hairspiration. When Kings of Leon first sauntered onto the scene with their manly yet lustrous locks I knew I had to grow my hair. Their video for The Bucket was like a burning bush, and that was that, I’d found my identity as a long haired man.

Yes the occasional waitress referred to me and a girl friend as ‘ladies’ when greeting me from behind, there was the obligatory ‘your bloody hair needs cutting’ every time I saw the ‘rents and even got the odd lemon thrown at me from drunkards in clubs. Confident that my mane was my crowning glory it was all totally worth it. Then this happened…
