If you haven’t seen The Voice yet you need to. The premise of the show is sort of The X Factor meets Dragons' Den, skipping past the freak show element of the audition stages and only focusing on those with proven vocal ability. There are four mentors who each have to pick 8 of the hopefuls for their team, and they can only do it based on the contestant’s voice. Get it? They don’t get to see the contestants sing until they have committed to mentor them. And herein lays the genius of the show. You see Christina Aguilera, arguably the most famous member of the mentor panel, is perfection and here’s why…
Christina Aguilera is in what I like to refer to as her ‘Albino Snooki’ phase; orange tan, bouffant hair and Jerseylicious fashion choices. But that’s not why she’s great on the show. All the best panel show judges have a unique attribute; Simon Cowell’s nastiness, Cheryl Cole’s down to earth-ness, Paula Abdul’s ‘sleepiness’, Bruno Tonioli’s pronunciation of ess(sssScotttt!). What Christina brings to the table is that her face is an open book and she is completely unable to mask her true feelings when the angelic voice she picks is coming out of a less that angelic looking body. Her face is an open book-ness if you will. It’s priceless, you have to check it out for yourself.
